Re: Need advice on getting a snake
I baby-sat my son's Brazilian Rainbow boa for the entire summer, it never came out once! She is super nice, very docile and 'friendly' and absolutely beautiful but by no means is she a 'display' snake.
I agree on the Carpets, my two IJ's are usually always out and draped over something, they hardly ever use their hides at all.

carpets for sure... only 20% of my snakes ever use their hides. the rest only go in there during shed cycles.

Re: Need advice on getting a snake
The local reptile shop has two black phase White-Lipped Pythons (had two, one sold).
Whenever I walk by it seems very alert. As soon as I get near the tank it :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: it's head back and gets in strike position. Absolutely gorgeous though.

You could also get a dwarf or super dwarf retic
I know BRB are touchy w/humidity needs..I don't know about the bloods.
Even at 3 yo, our SD retic liked his hides too much to be a display pet for us. Our Redtail boa, Petey is in the familyroom / den in a totally clear, acrylic tank cage. Traffic is moderate, and he does well. He also likes to hang in or on his tree, so you may want to consider a redtail.

Re: Need advice on getting a snake
I second a RTB. My girl is out fairly often and would be out more if she had something to climb. Also pretty much any arboreal species would be a good display snake. ETB, GTP, Carpets, ATB's. Are you looking for a handleable snake or just display?

Re: Need advice on getting a snake
I have two ideas as of now. I might go with a bull snake just to change it up, or maybe a yunan beauty snake.
Snakes
0.1 Gopher Snake
0.1 Bull Snake
Lizards
0.1 Bearded Dragon
0.0.1 Crested Gecko
