Re: What in the world are these?
Those look a lot like centipede eggs, although I've never seen them scattered like that. If you're curious to see what they end up being, scoop out the eggs and a bit of soil and put them in a container with small holes to allow air circulation. Otherwise I would strongly recommend disposing of them.

Since you said that you have been having problems with lizards in the house (another post) and they probably are some form of anole, i wonder if they could be anole eggs.

Re: What in the world are these?
Okay, I'm guessing you're not much of a plant person generally. The 'eggs' are actually fertilizer (likely osmocote or a similar brand). If you got the plant from a nursery or store, then likely they had just gotten around to fertilizing for spring growth. You can wait on them to hatch, but its going to be a looooooong wait.
Cheers,
Kat

I used my own fertilizer months ago. Those have not been there until now.

Also, I don't know if "momma" is still buried underneath the plant, and I do NOT want to find out. I'm a wuss. I am petrified of lizards and generally dislike most bugs. So I don't want to go digging around in the soil but it's SO hot here that just leaving the plant outside may kill it. >_< Emotional turmoil!
