This doesn't really get talked about a whole lot, but I feel like people should respect arachnids much more than people already do. I feel like a lot of people who don't "respect" these animals just aren't properly educated on the matter. This is true for just about any animal, but specifically herps and bugs. This causes a lot of fear towards those animals; I'll be focusing on arachnophobia the most...
Arachnophobia is "an intense fear of spiders" (Cleveland Clinic) and about 15% of the world's population has it. This causes people to shudder or scream at even the sight of an arachnid of any sort. This causes a lot of people to stomp on, throw, and kill those animals, and most of the time people don't know that these animals are actually GOOD for the environment and won't hurt them unless they force them to or give them a reason to. Out of 43,000 spider species in the world, only an estimated 30 are lethally dangerous to people and pets.
In conclusion, people need to learn more about these animals and it'll cause people to respect these animals a whole lot more. More often than not, the animals are more scared of you than you are of them, so just leave them in peace.
Thanks.
