    Herp Find in Jersey City

I found this Northern Diamondback Terrapin in my local park today. I was a little nervous picking him up because I thought it was a snapping turtle, but I figured it'd have to have a long neck, indeed, to reach my hand on its rear. A Google search of NJ turtles helped me to properly identify it. Meeting an new herp always makes the day special.

How cool- & a good size! Always best to keep fingers out of the way, even if it's not a "snapping turtle".
