I do believe that is scale rot. You can buy ointment drops that go in a warm bath meant to cure that. Hope the poor baby gets better

Since March, got him for free

Not sure age, not sure how big but he's the biggest out of our 5. I assume he is pretty much a full grown ball python
3. Does it eat on a regular schedule?
Yes, every 10 days
4. How long since its last meal?
a week
5. What type/size prey is being offered?
F/T medium rats, eats every time.
6. How often do you offer food?
every 10-14 days
7. What type and size of enclosure does it live in?
41qt sterilite tub (rack system)
8. What are you using as substrate? If it has depth, how deep is it?
Coconut husk, 1inch or so deep
9. What type of heating do you use?
Ultratherm heat pads
10. Do you use a thermostat to control temperatures?
I use a rheostat
11. What do you use to measure/monitor temperatures?
IR temp gun
12. What are the surface and ambient temperatures in the enclosure?
90-95 on the hot side, 70-75 on the cool. 80-85 in the middle
13. What is the average humidity level?
Not sure
14. How many and what type of hides does the snake have?
1-he has a turtle shell thing the previous owner gave us with him. Also have a black plastic hide box but he doesnt like it so we dont use it
15. Is water readily available at all times?
Yes

Alone

many times a day, 10-15 minutes each time

Missing an eye (we assume its from the previous owner feeding live, leaving it in his enclosure with him)
19. Do you have any other reptiles? Have you brought in any new reptiles recently?
Yes, 4 other ball pythons. No new.

Re: Scale Rot??
Get a povidone iodine solution at walgreens and bathe him in it every few days. Its a good antiseptic. Coco fiber is awesome, but it can hold a lot of humidity in, so you could switch to something a bit drier for the moment until the scale rot heals. Some people just use newspaper, or something like repti bark.
