Considering there is no history here being from a shelter if I had to guess considering where it is located you are likely dealing with a scar from a burn.
Obviously it's a guess again it would be hard to know.

That's interesting...never seen that before, but it doesn't look like it's an issue you need to worry about...I take it he shed just fine?

Re: Weird belly scales on my Honduran Milksnake
I was thinking the same thing. Would you think this is something I need to worry about? He seemed to shed just fine and it does not seem to be recent.

Yes he shed just fine and it does not look like there is an open wound. Mainly looks like the scales are just deformed.

I would not worry about it, looks healthy no redness no oozing, looks like it healed well and you are now just dealing with scar tissue.

I think you might have the first snake that came with a zipper? (the scutes actually appear to be twisted, as if woven...very strange)

Yes it does look like a zipper. Almost like he could take his scales off like pajamas.

Lol, let's hope not, but yeah, that's about what I was thinking too.

Re: Weird belly scales on my Honduran Milksnake
Welcome to the ball-pythons.net forums!
Aside from being on the belly, I can't tell where the scar is located. If it is about 1/8 of the snake's snout-vent length forward of the vent, then it is probably an imperfectly healed scar from where the snake's yolk sac was attached when the snake was in the egg. In other words, it's the snake's navel (AKA bellybutton) and nothing to worry about. Note the groove running tailward from the scar. That would be a fully healed portion of the scar.
My local animal shelter never has good stuff like this. I am envious!
