    Reusing a Mouse

My Kenyan sand boa came out of shed this week and decided that she did not want to eat on schedule. Rather than throw out the mouse I gave it to my 6 month old carpet python. Do you think that there are any issues with this? I have had my Kenyan for 5 years, so when she does not want to take the mouse off of the tongs, I know that she is not hungry, so the mouse was not cold or sitting around for more than 5 or so minutes. I worry about my snakes a lot, especially when trying something new, so I checked the forums but did not see a relevant thread.

I don't see any problems with giving refused feeders to another snake. That's another good reason to keep multiple critters.

    Reusing a Mouse

It's great. Many of us justify that extra snake as a Garbage Disposal!

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

And if none of my snakes will take said rodent, one of my monitors always will, lol. This is actually a pretty standard practice in reptile keeping. Most would rather offer an animal an extra meal than have to hassle with trying to store the rodent until the next feeding.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

    Re: Reusing a Mouse

When I got my jungle carpet python, the breeder warned me about certain things he might be a picky eater about. Nope! He's my garbage disposal snake.

The only time Iv'e seen hesitation with reusing is when you plan on refreezing and reusing. But one snake touching the food then giving it to another snake won't cause a problem. The ONLY issue you sorta might have is if the refusal came from a snake in quarantine and you're going it to one that's not, but that's just being extra safe.
