    My new little guy!!!

He's sooo cute!!!! Just a leopard gecko. I've named him Napoleon.

Please feel free to be brutally honest... I need a bit of guidance on his enclosure. The lamp has a dimmer switch so I can monitor his heat, I have 2 ball pythons as well so not a total newb. I just don't see the need for a thermostat monitored UTH. Am I wrong?

What size/type of cage is that?

Overall it looks ok to me. I have my leopard gecko on just a heat lamp so I can burn off some humidity in the cage.

The only thing I would add is a humid hide, which can be made out of just about anything that can deal with the moisture. I use colored (not clear) tupperware along with some eco-earth/sphagnum moss.

Its a 20g long tank that i happened to already have. I didnt like the idea of some plastic critter keeper they recommended since he needs the heat. I have no issues upgrading him, just not sure what i would tuen to next.

As I've been reading, I've been changing. Completely forgot I had that spare lamp stand and added a humid hide. It will need to change, couldn't find anything else I could cut a hole into without dumping something down the drain. <I was very tempted though.>

Interesting, that must be a shortened tank then.

Everything looks good to me, though I'm no leopard gecko expert.

It was the enclosure that my bp cheddar came in. I had since upgraded him to a full 20g long, but kept it as a spare <never know when you are gonna find a reptile in need after all>. I suppose this could be a 15g. My main concern is whether or not it is too big? Have since found a better choice for a water dish though so that will be changed next.

Thanks Aaron, ever so helpful as always.

I don't think it is too big. When I got mine she was much smaller. I had her in a 10 gallon for awhile then moved her into a 20 long. As long your leo is eating you should be fine.
