    What's average for rat pricing?

    Hi all,

I am about to receive my first baby ball and I see a large variation on pricing for food. I'm just wondering what kind of price is a good price per rat? I'm useless at knowing what a good price for chicken is too:p some housewife I turned out to be.

    Thanks

Welcome to the addiction! That chicken bit cracked me up Price will depend on what you're feeding. Have you decided on live or frozen/thawed? I like frozen since you can buy in bulk and usually get a decent discount. For a baby ball, you'll want a mouse hopper/small mouse or rat pinky/pup, depending on the actual size of yours. Would you happen to have a weight? I pay about 50 cents on average for rat pinks, or $1 for pups/weaned rats. Or free when I breed my own :p

Word of warning, stay away from petsmart/petco frozen mice/rats. They straight up rob you. If you plan on frozen, try to find a local pet shop or feeder breeder, they're generally good on prices.

About an arm and a leg through pet stores. I usually see small rats from private feeder breeders between $1-$2.50, the lower end being a great deal and the higher end being a bit steep imo. This is AZ prices though, Idk if it's different other places.

    Really depends on where you are. I'm in toronto and pay roughly 1/3 of what you pay for in a store but some areas have more competition amongst other breeders and other places you're at the mercy of the pet stores. This is what I pay;

    Pups: $0.90
    Weaned: $1.10
    Small: $1.50
    Med: $2.00
    Large: $3.00
    XXL/jumbo: $3.50

Which is a little more than I used to pay but much less than the pet stores.

Give or take 10 cents. I don't have my order sheets in front of me.

    What's average for rat pricing?

I'm in Hamilton but if its cheap enough in the gta and anyone know of a good shop my boyfriend works in Mississauga so picking up rats in bulk once a month isn't a huge deal. Any suggestions?

I'm in Ottawa and feed f/t, so I only know frozen prices. I found them on Kijiji, but they sell all kinds of feeders and they look professional. I also bought 500 superworms from them for my gecko. I bought 25 rats, since that should last roughly 6 months with weekly feedings, and I wouldn't want to keep them in the freezer much longer. I'm a housewife too btw

    Frozen Rats
    Pinky each-$0.70
    Pinky 25-$17.00
    Pinky 100-$65.00

    Fuzzy each-$0.85
    Fuzzy 25-$21.00
    Fuzzy 100-$80.00

    Pup each-$0.95
    Pup 25-$23.00
    Pup 100-$0.90

    Weaned each-$1.25
    Wean 25-$30.50
    Wean 100-$120.00

    Small each-$1.75
    Small 25-$42.50
    Small 100-$165.00

    Medium each-$2.75
    Med 25-$66.25
    Med 50-$127.50

    Large each-$3.70
    Large 10-$32.50

    Jumbo each-$4.40
    Jumbo 10-$40.00
