    Looks pretty.

So is the flexwatt heating the full length of each of the 41's?

Just about it goes all the way across minus 3/4 of an inch

Thanks to all who said it looks good was super easy to build makes me wonder why people would ever buy a rack. Making a pvc one next

Re: My first rack completed what do you think

That is a nice looking rack. My only concern is that the melamine shelves might warp in the middle since they have no support there beside the tubs. I only say this because I had a friend with pretty much the exact same setup and the shelves ended up warping in the middle do to humidity and temperature changes. I don't know if it was because the guy he had build it for him didn't know what he was doing or if it was caused by not enough support in the middle. Your setup looks killer though and I hope it holds up for you because if it does my next rack will most likely be of that design. I just finished my first rack and it is a 6 shelf 41qt melamine rack with the tubs going in the long way, and I agree melamine is a b**ch to carry, heavy as #$@!. lol.

I ended up spending as much after the fact on my 3 tub 41 qt homemade melamine rack as I just did on my precision crafted, snap together, recessed heating economy rack from Animal Plastics.

I must have been doing it wrong.

Also, pics or it didn't happen. Lol.

That's what I was thinking lol where are you guys getting the melamine from?
i need a cheaper place because it alone Would cost me about $130 to build something like this... Plus the heat tape and screws? As much as I like building things I like saving money more lol!

Home Depot has it roughly 40 sheet I got two but the girl only charged me for 1 so got lucky there lol. The herpstat cost as much as the heat tape melamine aluminum tape and screws combined. Need to find some cheap pvc sheets now building another rack soon as my girlfriend loves this one and wants one for our leopard geckos. Its off topic but does anyone know what size tubs are good for them Ive read 16 for hatchling to subadult and 28 for adult

Btw the rack only has 4 tubs in it right now and I still need to add the top sheet of melamine, when I can afford it, to finish the top shelf. Right now I could fit 5 adult balls in it if I could afford to buy another 41qt tub, which I cant. This rack was not cheap $300 altogether after everything including the dimmers and crappy zilla therms.

Lol $130 is pretty much exactly what the wood in my rack came out cost. I am definitely buying an animal plastics rack next time. Man I wish I would of checked them out earlier. :banghead: Oh well. As for the OP I would think a 24qt tub would be good for just about any gecko. My mom owns african fat tails and if I were to put them in tubs I would use a 24qt tub.

    Nice rack!
Where did you get your flexwatt?
I just made a 4 shelf 28qt rack from 1 4x8 sheet at the insane cost of $22.48. All 8 cuts were free. My HD rocks?
