Are you Having trouble sexing?
Well, I like to sell some rats time to time. It can be difficult sometimes to sex the younger rats, if they aren't dropped very well. So, today, while giving my young feeders a soak, I could easily tell the difference.
So, for anyone sort of new to breeding rats, and want to keep your females, and feed off your males, just put them in warm water. Amazing results.
(I'll be doing this for all my sales now, just to confirm I don't give them something they don't want)

Re: Are you Having trouble sexing?
I judge gender based on the distance between the gentalia and anus(Males have a good amount of distance between the two, and a females are very close together). You can sex them well from the day they pop out, regardless of whether there is a visible bulge in males. Granted, I have misexed 3 rats out of 10 litters, but that success rate is high enough for me.
I couldnt find the one I learned from, but this guide isnt too bad. http://www.ratz.co.uk/sexingrats.html

There is no need to put a rat in water to sex it, it's pretty simple and can be done at a very early age http://www.afrma.org/sexing101.htm
Really no reason to make it more complicated then it is

If you grab a rodent by the scruff and flip it over it's easy to tell what sex it is, even the day they are born
