    My new adoptee!

This is Malaki, our new to us old Burmese. He was severely underfed his entire life (until my best friend rescued him about 9 months ago). He is 9 years old. He was fed a mouse once a month. People had no clue how to take care of him. Since he was rescued, he has doubled at least in girth. Our best guess is he'll possibly get about 6 inches longer, and may double in girth again. He also wasn't handled the last 7 years the people had him (they had kids and were not well versed enough in snake handling to be able to deal, so they basically ignored him. He loves to be out and being held, and is as sweet as a puppy despite all he's been through.

You definitely need to post pictures! A mouse a month? That's sad, considering our Corn eats a large mouse once a week, and Apollo isn't that big! Poor babe. I'm glad he was rescued!

In my experience, when snakes are fed properly, they aren't mean. I'd bite too if I was hungry! It's a shame.

    Re: My new adoptee!

I'm Becky's husband. Her pics wouldn't work from Facebook, we'll try these.

    Here's Malaki with Becky:

    And a few Malaki pics:

Here's right after he ate his 2nd XXL rat looking for more. A few seconds later he was up out of his tub coming after me no doubt because I still smelled like food to him. Our feeding technique needs some tweaking still.

This isn't a great pic but it shows his size. The tank is 6' long and the stand is about 3" longer on each side. I figure he's right around 6'-6".

And finally, a couple head shots:

We love this guy to death. He's been out every day except 3 days after feeding, he's eating, eliminating and seems perfectly happy with us. We're very glad to have him.

That's wonderful that your friend was able to rescue him! Poor guy, why would they keep him for nine years if they were just going to abuse him? At least he has a good home now. He's beautiful too, btw.
