    Question about rat food

Does anyone use Native Earth formerly known as Harlan? I currently use Mazuri but was considering a switch due to costs. Any input on this food?

I use it (from nationalpetpharmacy) and like it. All of my rats are healthy and most have pretty large litters.
    No complaints about it here!

If your using mazuri already, the switch wont make any noticeable change to your production, just pocketbook.

best way to buy is by the pallet, cheaper and lasts longer

Ditto. I buy it from the same place, and the rats seem to do well on it.

My rats love both. I'd go with whichever is cheaper or easier for you.

Be aware that Nat. Pet Pharm has been known to change prices in the past without warning so stay on top of the pricing if you go with the autoship.

I can't believe I just ordered a 5 pack of Native Earth for $84.79 shipped just for signing up to their auto ship program! I'll defiantly keep my eyes on their prices so I don't get hit with any surprises. Any of the feed stores around where I live seem to laugh at the thought of feeding rats/rodents and don't carry any type of block food.

    Re: Question about rat food

Thanks guys. I do plan on buying a pallet. Is it about the same size as the Mazuri? I am just wondering if it will fit on the top of my screen on the rat rack. Thanks again everyone for your input.

It seems almost identical to the Mazuri to me.

They are just about the same in size and nutritional content.

But don't take my word for it!

I feed Native Earth exclusively and my rats average 14 per litter. They do great on it as far as weight gain after pregnancy and also the grow outs when they get weaned and I have not had any issues with "hot" spots from too much protein in the feed. They all look good and are healthy feeding that exclusively. I like it and if you do the auto ship and can use five bags in whatever time frame you specify, National Pet Pharmacy is awesome for the cost savings versus Mazuri. Good luck and hope that helps!
