    ASF Substrate & Hide?

I just got a 1.3 set of ASF's at FIRE show. What substrate is best? I have them on pine shavings and they smell after 2 days. Maybe its the bottomless cigar box I gave them to hide in? There was poop on the top this morning and I'd assume they urinated on top too. What else will work as a hide that won't absorb odor? I'm sure they will chew this box soon, as it's cedar and cardboard mix?

    Thanks

Pine shavings are a good choice. Cardboard tubes and boxes are good toys too. You're doing it right, just have to get used to the smell.

i have mine on aspen shavings. i do weekly cleaning every sunday, but i rotate spot clean and full clean every other week. i used to use cardboard tubes but they dont last long with these little buggers, i'm going to make my own hides out of wood

the smell has never gotten out of hand, so far
