Argus monitor breeding

Just picked up a female argus monitor about 3 ft. long very vibrant colours looking for a mate and info. She is in a quarantine 4x3x3 right now. we will move her to a 8x4x5 when she is out of quarantine. So what will i need for breeding any temp changes, special features lay boxes etc.

Quarantine from what?As long as you don't put it in the same cage as another monitor it should be fine,also most monitors are almost bulletproof when set up properly.Keeping a 3 foot lizard in a foot cage is cruel.Argus monitors are the most hyperactive adhd of all monitors.And they need a ton of space to move.I would get it in that 8 foot cage asap.In a cage that small you run the risk of dehydration and their is no way you can get a good temp gradient.You will run the risk of your animals being to hot or to cool.The good new is they are one of the more hardy monitors and are forgiving of keeper error.


As far as breeding you'll need a male and hope she accepts him.As long as you set them up right they just do it them selves.Its a little more complicated than that as nesting can be a real problem.

well ive always quarantined fresh arrivals because i've heard that’s best. well put her in her setup tomorrow then

I'm with Greg, get her in the other enclosure.
As far as breeding her and assuming a future male is excepted by her, all you need to do is house,feed and heat them right, as well as provide a deep sandy loam (2ft) with a temp and moister range in itself as a substrate and she will take care of the rest.
You should also be prepaired to seperate the male at times.
