Garter Snake Pics (Common but cool!)

I was going through my computer's hard drive today looking through my pic files, and I forgot all about these ones that I snapped of a garter snake last fall.

I was hiking with the kids in Carley State Park in Minnesota on an early October afternoon. I was really surprised to see a snake out, because it was maybe 50 degrees out at most.

This is the first snake I ever saw in the wild as a kid, and although they are fairly common, I never tire of seeing one of these in their natural habitat.

    Enjoy!

I love garter snakes! I used to keep them when I was young. Have you seen any red sided ones? They are also really cool, I'll post an image when I find one. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not sure if there are red sided ones where I live in MN -- the yellow striped common ones are the only ones I have ever seen.

I think the San Francisco Garters are awesome! It's a shame that they are endangered -- I think seeing one of those would be really cool -- although I don't think I will ever have the chance of seeing one!

This is one of the animals that starts the love! I loved finding Garters when I was 7 and I love finding them again at 41! In my younger years I was more concerned about finding everything in my local. Now I watch the joy on my kids face when they flip a garter and it brings back the love!

I've been catching Garters since I could walk...

I still catch them whenever I see them.
