I usually try to pair every 2 weeks or so, give or take. Continue until they don't lock anymore. I'm really bad at catching building, ovulation, etc, so I just pair and pair and pair etc etc.

    Re: good lock, now what?

I've been putting my pairs together every week on Friday and separating on Sunday evening. They get Monday through Thursday off. I've only seen my Spider locked with my dinker female so far. I have not caught my het pied locked up yet with my pos het pied female yet. She has been doing alot of tail wagging though. Congrats on the lock though!

Just keep pairing them until you get eggs or your set time frame. We do 3 or 4 days on and 3 or 4 days off depending on the cleaning cycle as it is easier to clean the males tubs while they are in with their girls and generally when you remove the male the girls tub needs cleaned as inevitably someone has peed all over the place. We stop normally in July and assume if we don't get the remaining eggs by September they are done. Granted we started our pairing in November and had a girl we thought wasn't going to go last year lay a clutch one day after being paired up once this season. It was a left over clutch from last year naturally, but it just goes to say don't give up on them.

You should keep pairing them until you see ovulation from the girl or when the girl kicks him off the bed, like if the boy is hidding at one corner. Good luck.
