Proper weight for an adult corn?

Out of curiosity, I weighed and measured my girl. She's slightly over 3 foot and weighs in at 392 g. I don't know her age or anything, I know she has been bred before. I hunted around on google, but didn't find much information about weight, except for purposes of breeding. She's looks like she's a good weight, and I'm planning on weighing her the night before feeding to get an idea on her weight fluctuations. Should probably do the same to her dinner lol.

Anyways, at about 3 foot and 392 grams, is she a good weight?

Sounds about right. Like most snakes, each one grows and gains weight at their own rate. I have one adult male corn that is just over 2 years old and weights between 4-500g (he likes to go on and off food a lot), and the other adult male is a little over 3 years old and weighs in at 1020g+. My adult female corn is around 2.5 years and 600g+, and my 2 year old female just passed 300g last month.

So you see, there really isn't a set guidline. As long as they're eating, shedding, and all those healthy things, and they aren't losing weight, they're doing fine.

And no, I haven't weighed them this month yet. Too much going on with the impending move.

I figured it was something like that. With her being my first c/b snake. I'm fussy over her. She wasn't a cheap investment, for me anyways (usually broke college student lol). So, I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

I pay more attention to how they look and feel. A healthy cornsnake will look solid, where you can't see its spine or ribs. However, it should feel solid and not squishy. Its easy for cornsnakes especially to begin to become over weight.

But your numbers sound about right.

as above, big time.. peple dont often talk about the solid feel.. i;m open, i'll breed a young female if she has that solid feel and mature body.

I couldn't agree more!! But it is one of those better safe than sorry rules, that should only be broken after years of keeping them once you have the experience.

If I breed her, it won't be for awhile. I don't have the room, nor a male, lol. As it stands, I'm not quite sure how I should go about putting her into hibernation.

You don't have to unless you're going to breed her...and even then you don't really have to do it.

I agree with the 'solid feel' rule. My two males are SO different in size that you might think one is underweight and the other over! But the huge ghost is nearly 6' long, so he's fairly proportional and has that good solid body with no extra 'squish', so he's not fat just big! The Amel male is really short, so his lower weight isn't that bad due to his reduced length. He doesn't eat as regularly as I'd like, but his body is still nicely filled out so I don't worry much.

I was reading a forum somewhere where they were discussing bruminating and breeding. I saw a quite that made me kind of laugh, but always wondering if it's true: Heat 'em. Feed 'em. Breed 'em.

If they don't really need to be bruminated to breed, would this affect clutch sizes?
