BEW asf project.
After reading up about someone producing BEW asfs, i decided i wanted some of my own. I purchased an albino male at Hamburg in February. I bred him to one of my amber n white females, n was excited to see that he expressed a LOT of white in the babies. Most were almost pure white, save for a few amber spots on their backs. Im raising up a few of his daughters to breed back to him to see what i get. Well, i got a hold of two dark brown n white females, and thought hmm....needless to say, i am very excited about the results! One step closer to BEWs!!!
This is mom...
These are her babies from the albino male...
Sorry, crappy cell pics. But as you can see, except for the spot, most of the color is gone! And these babies will have black eyes! I cant wait to breed some of these little girls back to dad to see what i get!

Those are really cool projects, both of you! I have several amber males and females both in my colony...how exactly does one go about producing these guys? I've not had any luck finding info on their genetics and what coat color is linked to what. Thanks in advance if either of you have any info or links I could check out and best of luck with your projects, they look cool!

BEW asf project.
I tried seeing if I could actually import some colonies from the guy who produces them in Germany.
Alas, we can't import African rodents.. Yet we can have ASFs..
I'd pay a lot of $$$ for some BEWs

I wish I could say I had the magic formula, but alas, I don't I colony breed, so it's kind of hard to see what's producing what lol. I just keep the groups together that work the best. I can definitely say the dam of this girl was very similar looking to the fuzzies posted above. Dad is a standard pied. We're going to make some new groups with the high white offspring and see what happens

Re: BEW asf project.
Ill have to keep you posted, because the fuzzies im holding in that pic are only 5 weeks old lol. But as soon as theyre old enough, you can bet Ill be breeding em back to dad. The key to my project is probably my albino male. When I breed him to any of my pied females, amber or agouti, the babies have dramatically increased white. So im thinkin its just gonna take a few more generations of outcrossing to get rid of all the color and get a pure white animal. Im hoping to produce more albinos real soon, cuz this one male I have is getting old lol.
