    Need Help with Hides

I had a few different hides in the beginning, when we first got our BP. Medusa never seem to like
any of them. Until I ordered a small hide from reptile basics. (only one, because I was concerned about
size) Before that hide arrived, she seem to like her moss hide most of all.

Once the RB hide arrived, That quickly seem to become her favorite. I decided not
to order another, because I feared she would out grow it quickly. So i made one
from a plastic flower pot- black- round- cut to nearly the exact size (height), door,
exactly the same as the RB one. (except round)

She still favors the RB one. She will go in the other (which is on the warm side,
when she's just eaten) and she goes in her moss to poop or shed. lol
I started to wonder if maybe my hot side was too hot (although I have thermostat and
accurite temp gauge, everything is just perfect)

So the other night, we switched the hides, to opposite sides of the tank- just
to see if it was the hide. Sure enough, she originally went into the round, on the cold
side and stayed for a while- but that night I fiound her over in the RB hide on the warm side
and she's pretty much been there ever since.

I can't believe she can favor a hide that much- when they seem soo much the same to me!

After this long story, my dilemma ... She has definitely outgrown the small RB hide- although
she gives it her best to get in there
I dont want to stress her out, by taking it away. Should I try the larger one?? I know its a LOT larger.
She has laid in the "flower pot" one- should I just make up my own, and she'll adjust??

Just curious what others have experienced and any suggestions.

thanks & sorry for being long winded. I just wanted to make the point, that she's very particular

I would get the next size RBI hide you can always put some crumpled up newspaper or substrate in it to take up some space.

Thanks for the good idea with the paper. I guess I should have mentioned part of my concern of upgrading
to the larger hide, is also Tank size. Which Im trying to put off increasing for a while as well
But i'll measure it all out and see if I can make it work

    Thanks again!

It might like the rectangle hide because it can touch the sides easier

    Re: Need Help with Hides

I would go ahead and bump up to the next size of hide. Again, you can always clutter up the inside to reduce the free space within. We use the rectangle hides from RBI.
