    Back up T-Stats

May seem like silly question, but how do you set-up/connect a back-up stat?

Do you simply keep both probes near the heat source? How do you plug the flexwatt into two outlets?

Your back-up T-Stat has to be on/off, not proportional. Your main T-Stat can be either type.

Yes, keep both probes on then flexwatt.

The flexwatt is plugged into your main t-stat. Your main t-stat is then plugged into your backup t-stat. Give your back up t-stat something like +5/-5 degrees before turning off. It's mainly there in case your main t-stat's probe comes loose or a voltage strike occurs,

Both probes go on the heat tape. The heat tale plugs into the main thermostat... The main thermostat plugs into the failsafe thermostat (this is why it must be a on/off style thermostat) and the failsafe thermostat plugs into the wall.

Basically if your main thermostat fails the failsafe thermostat (which is set higher than the main thermostat) turns the main thermostat on and off to maintain safe temperatures.
