    Flexwatt

I am so curious about this flexwatt. I know I was told that it hooks up like a UTH but what size would I need to get? I see many different sizes of it. I am going to get a 12 qt tub because I am hoping to get a baby BP. Of course I am going to get a thermostat as well.

You want to get a piece large enough to cover 1/3 of the bottom of the tub.

You will probably use the 3" or 4". I use the 11" stuff on my 4 foot by 2 foot cages

personally if you have just a single tub it is not practile. It sags if taped directly to the bottom of the tub it is typically taped to a surface then the tub is placed upon it. By the time you order it cut it wire it and use it you would likly be ahead of the game with a good quality uth. The ultra therm uth adds a little margine of safety as it does not get as hot as flexwatt can. (still needs a T-Stat)

Everyone was recommending flexwatt though. It's cheaper than a standard UTH and I am not sure if a UTH would fit the 12 qt container. I guess maybe a mini one would? I will have to do some browsing at the pet store then.

Also, if I get a flexwatt would a 1 foot strip of 4" be okay for the 12 qt container. Of course I'd probably have to cut it to appropriate size, but just curious? Or should I get more?

    Re: Flexwatt

my ambient air is slightly off where i'd like it to be by about 4 degrees F in a tub. would putting flexwatt over the tub lid be a viable way of raising heat but not too badly?

Maybe but I' not sure. It would still need to be on a thermostat I think but a cheap one would be enough.
