    Talking setting up my tub?

    Alright here it goes,
I have a 3-8 gallon uth made by zoomed and it is ok for plastics can i just put that under the tub without using the adhesive to heat it or is flexwatt an absolute must?
I am getting a baby ball python and will probably only get one tub with a secure lid for now, then will see were it goes.
    how many hides?
So I need a 15 qt tub, uth/flexwatt, newspaper, ?hides, water bowl and thermostats for changing temp. Anything else?
    Thanks
    Marcus

You could get away with 1 hide. 2 may be a good idea tho.

Pick up an Accurite thermometer...one with an indoor temp and an outdoor probe so you can measure ambient temps as well as what the actual belly heat is (with the "outdoor" probe)

I keep telling you - If you don't start charging more than $0.0001 for your advice you'll never be able to afford that palace.

    Marcus,

You will also need to control your UTH with a thermostat so that it does not burn your snake. It can get very hot if it's not regulated.

    Re: setting up my tub?

You can get all sorts of fancy hides that cost a bomb but personally we just go with what works, is cost effective, easy to clean and the snakes love em. For the babies we use these, just very small dark colored plastic bowls from the local dollar store....

This is one of our 06's set up. We only use the one hide as they are in their own snake room which is kept pretty tightly controlled as far as light and temperature of the room. As well it's not a high traffic area so they all feel fine moving about as they like in their tubs without being "exposed". If I was setting up a snake in a room, like a livingroom, I'd likely go with two hides, and some fake foliage maybe to give it more of a hidden feeling. These are quite shy and very nocturnal snakes, not really very good as display snakes.

Acu-Rite, invaluable for keeping their homes in the proper ranges....

    Re: setting up my tub?

well thanks everyone, got everything i needed. Is it neccesary to use a thermostat or can i use a rheostat until i get the money for a thermostat?

Should I position the probe near the hide, warm side, cool side?

One last thing were can i get one small tub thats clear more like glass not the regular rubbermaids for a decent price?
