I asked this question awhile ago and recieve no reponse so in honor of the bright tail on that sucka I'll ask it again:
Does anyone know what is the reason why the red-tail boa has a red-tail?
Why and how did it evolve?
Perhaps it is unknown and no one has made any speculations about it. -

Have you considered that red is the "danger" or "warning" color in nature. It may be a cautioning color which makes potential predators think twice about a red-tailed boa as a meal. Just a thought.
