    Free time

What eats up most of your free time?
I'm usually out running (I do a lot of half marathons and such) but I recently agreed to donate an art piece to benefit a local animal rescue organization . Saturday is my deadline and I'm sure I could tweak a few things on it but I just can't look at it anymore.

Very nice art work! Is that done in pencil?

When I'm not dealing with the snakes I tend to and play with my mouse colony and the 2 dogs. When there isn't anything pressing to work on for the house I enjoy working on some of my cars. Hunting, fishing, and cooking fill the rest of my free fun time.

oh that's wonderful realistic rendering! great job!

I'm actually also doing a piece for my local wolf conservation center's auction, but my deadline is around end of September. It's really enjoyable to do animal paintings for donation!

I'm an artist (in animation and freelance illustration) as a career, so technically my "free time" isn't art LOL. I guess I play video games, train my dog in dog sports, and do this snake hobby in my free time!

Wow, that doesn't need any "tweaking" that I can see? Nice contribution too.

I like to swim a couple miles most days. And play with my dogs & 16 snakes, & some other interests...it varies.

    Re: Free time

Holy crap, that's some fine drawing there!
My free time is usually taken up with school stuff, or I just play on my PC, or I'm at Jujitsu practice. Can't wait to see what the others do in their spare time!

    Re: Free time

My free time is generally spent cleaning snake poop and sequestering myself in my art studio. Working on a quick little mezzotint engraving of an anaconda skull just for the hell of it. I usually make images of dystopian abandoned architecture so this is a very different and fun little departure for me.

Thanks guys! Yes, its pencil. Hopefully it raises some money for them. It is a cat focused rescue, hence the lion, but this is the first feline I've ever drawn. I'm set to do another one for the organization I got my last dog from. I also spend a significant amount of time with my dogs, and had looked for a project dog that had some problems prior to getting him...I'm so grateful that I was able to work with the agency I got him from, and that they trusted me with him, he has turned out to be amazing.

67temp - I don't hunt but I do fish, a lot. I went out for trout this year for the first time ever but it was a bust. I can't bring myself to kill an animal but I recently had a fox problem which led to me losing half of my chickens. It culminated in me chasing the fox around in circles in my bare feet (he would run around behind me to get to the chickens), and after that I decided I would be ok with shooting him.

Redshepherd - I think it would drive me nuts doing art all the time! I did commissions for years and enjoy it way more now that I don't get paid for it. Also, wolves are my favorite animals, but the closest I ever really get to seeing something like that is the occasional coyote when I'm out running, or you know, outside of my yard stalking my chickens.

Jmcrook - that skull is AMAZING. How big is it?
