Our morning routine
Just wanted to post a couple of cute photos of Noodle and I on our quiet mornings. She hangs out in my robe pocket while I make coffee, then she sits in my hand while I drink it until she gets tired of that, and then she hangs out in my sleeve. She's so gentle and cute and playful-- and most of the time she's very calm! I never thought I'd bond with a snake, and I never thought a snake would bond with me. :-)
I have many pets including a couple of nice dogs, cats, and used to have a couple of parrots that bonded to me. But after getting to know snakes (or at least my snakes) I see what special little souls they are. It makes me sad that so many people are afraid of them and won't even consider getting to know them better.
I posted a thread about how Noodle and my other snake help with my depression here: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...52#post2660552

Bathrobes are the perfect place to hang out! With it tied at the waist she can't fall out and she can stick her head out of the front or the sleeves.

Too freaking cute! Rat snakes are great pets, I'm so glad you're letting the cat out of the bag, -er, the snake out of the sleeve!

They really are! I was originally wanting to get a BP like my daughter's but I saw her and held her and we just bonded right there in the reptile store. She's so curious and playful and has a great personality. I love setting up new things in her home for her to explore. As soon as I put something in there she has to check it out.
My new BP Spot is sweet in his own way, but he's just content hiding most of the time and is not nearly as curious.

That's what I enjoy about my rat snakes too. I rearrange the "furniture" now & then, partly by necessity (replace branches etc) & partly for "habitat enrichment".
That's how I found out that most of my rat snakes enjoy a basket wired onto their branches...most of them now sleep in them often & appear very contented,
rather than "exposed" (despite being closer to the screen top). For me, having a pet is about interacting with it, & most rat snakes do not stay "shy", nor do they
have feeding problems over such things (whether it's handling or changes in their homes).
