Rare
The Toffee Ball is an incredibly rare python. In fact, it is one of only three known to exist. Although the other two each have their own individual names, they are recognized as the exact same morph.
Proven to be recessive 2007 was the first year that the Toffee Ball produced offspring for us. Each of the offspring that was produced displayed a “normal” wild-type appearance. Considering the extreme visual qualities of this mutation coupled with the fact that there are two other identical animals in existence, we have theoretically concluded that the trait is simple recessive. Although most will agree with this conclusion, it is important to note that it is theoretical and because the project is still in its infancy, it has not yet had enough time to yield a visual Toffee.

Although we and many others have no doubt that the trait is inheritable, we can appreciate the potential anxiety that can accompany an opportunity that commands this level of investment. From what I understand so far they have also been working on proving this trait out as simple recessive and although I have not talked to Renaissance Reptiles directly on the matter what I have been able to find out is that they have done 8 “Het” x “Het” pairings and produced 0 visual, but when doing a Visual (Their original male) back to a “Het” they where able to produce one other Paragon. So this trait is proven to be inheritable if the information I have is correct, but it’s odd that they haven’t hit the odds on 8 pairings of hets. Either way for the people that bought hets good luck with them!
Also, TUP might be able to produce a visual Toffee of their own this year if they produced their first “Hets” in 2007. I guess we will have to wait and see, and also wait to see if they do any “Het” x “Het” pairings…
I spoke to The Urban Python when I picked up my het toffee on feb 22nd, and they said that if it is genetic, this is the year it will be proven out. They did not have the original male toffee with them at the expo because "he is really busy right now!". They also told me that this is the year the sandblast could be proven out.
