    Summer Relocation to Dallas

This summer I will be doing an internship in the Dallas, TX area. While I have a pretty good idea about how to get my 4 bps there safely, I am trying to think of a good set up for them while I am there. Currently I am in Michigan and they are in a 4-tub RBI sweaterbox rack. For those of you who don't know, this comes to you fully assembled and is probably a pain to take apart and put back together. So my plan is leave my rack in storage in MI and just house my snakes in lockable tubs sitting on Ultratherms attached to my helix t-stat. I could never get away with this in MI as it gets too cold. Could I get away with this in Dallas? Would the ambient temperatures in Dallas be warm enough?

The main thing is the the rack is going to take up too much space in my car, so I am looking for alternatives.

I understand that in February-March but what about May, June, July, and August? Are the temperatures more stable?

I think you will be fine using tubs. It is hot in August and a tiny bit cooler in July and June. We are looking at high 90's and low 100's.

I wouldn't say stable, but it will be more stable than it has been. May & June is kind of a coin toss. July & August it will be crazy hot. You should be fine with the set up in your first post between those months. we should get above the 80s all the time after May.

If you call Hot, Hotter and OMG Hot stable, then yeah, it's stable. Heat won't be your problem. Humidity is another item all together. Make sure you keep your eye on it. Coming from MI you won't even notice humidity in the air. It may even feel desert like to you. But I'm not complaining, I love DFW!!

That time of the year in Dallas, I would be more worried about keeping your snakes cool, not warm. They'll have all the warm they can handle.

Thanks everyone for the advice and assurance. I will make sure to set the AC to 80-82 while I am at work. Not taking the rack with me to dallas will make things a lot easier.

The potholes in Ann Arbor are ridiculous. Once I graduate college, I'm out of here. May 2010 can't come soon enough.
