Just be aware a lot of the cheaper bags of cypress mulch are packed very wet so need to be dried out somewhat before they can be used. As well they can be very erratic in their milling process. I've seen bags with huge slivers that I had to pick out by hand (and got slivers in my hands in the process!). Personally I'd love to try double milled cypress but it's impossible for me to find locally. A mix I like for our boas is 1/2 aspen, 1/2 regular milled cypress. You get the benefits of the cypress holding in humidity and providing a tougher bedding for the weight of a heavier snake. The aspen gives loft which you need with belly heat in order to move the heat efficiently to the surface of the substrate. Also looks very nice with the play of the light aspen and the darker cypress.![]()
