Help! Texas Brown Snake found, maybe still be alive!
Hey guys,
Just walking my dog, and I come across a texas brown snake that's not moving at all. It's cold outside, around 50* (it was low 30's last night), but he's not run over or anything. He's not moving, and I set him up in a tub with a heat pad, to see if he's moving.
Do you guys think he's dead? He's not moving at all, but he's not limp either.. maybe rigor mortis?
If he doesn't start moving overnight, I'm gonna freeze him

How did it go Matt? I'd say there's a chance he's still good. He should be showing signs of movement by now, I'm thinking.

If he hasn't started moving, instead of freezing him, place him back outside. Maybe under a bush (or somewhere safe). Either he will die or he is already dead. Either way, by placing him back, something will consume him and he won't go to waste. There's no reason to waste life.

I kept him in a tub for 1-2 hours, the tub was getting warm, he was getting slightly warm to the touch, but the neck region was still rigid. The head wasn't moving, no sign of life at all.
I waited a little longer, then decided to freeze him. I'm burying him later.
