Re: Name that boa
I haven't the experience with boa's to comment on the possible genetics at play here so I'll just say it's nice crossed with nicer. In the end, if this is a pet and not a snake you're going to breed from, then it's really a moot point. Looks like a lovely boa, sounds like it's got a great temperment so enjoy. I may be primarly focused on ball pythons, but our home would seem empty without a boa in it.

Re: Name that boa
Hi, I saw that you have BCI/BCC Hybrid in your sig. I wouldn't say that the snake is a hybrid, but a cross. A hybrid is a mix between two species. A cross is a mix within a species.

Re: Name that boa
Thanks everyone for the ideas. He will be a pet and probably not a breeder. I wonder what random stuff I could get out of him since we don't exactly know his genetics...maybe in the future just for fun. He does have a GREAT disposition and is a complete sweetheart. He will crawl onto our shoulders and either sit there or fall completely asleep (I have photo evidence of this event, lol).

I'll fix that right away.

Re: Name that boa
Just a small side question, judging from the pics, how long would he last in a 40 breeder (it might actually be a 50 because I saw a sticker on it yesterday that said 50e)? It seems like he will have plenty of space for awhile, I have his tank setup w/ the typical 2 hides and big water bowl on aspen. I'm gonna get flexwatt for the UTH.

Normally people go by the snake’s length. The enclosure should be as long as 2/3 of the snake’s length.

Re: Name that boa
I think it's like 4' long if I remember correctly. He doesn't use up all of the tub that Emerald Bay is keeping him in so I don't think we will have to upgrade anytime soon.

I keep my adult female in a 4x2x2 cage. She is around 6.5' and around 12.5lbs. I do not think that I will need to upgrade her cage, but if she grew to over 8' I would upgrade her to a 6' cage. I beleive that most boa keepers keep their boas in a 4' cage.
