Flexwatt Probe Placement
I was just wondering how people set their thermostat probe on the flexwatt. Do you place it like image:
A)

or
B)
Ball Pythons, All male:
Normal, Albino, Spider, Pinstripe, Mojave, Pastel, Orange Ghost, Lesser Platinum, Bumbleebee
Other Snakes:
2 Green Tree Pythons, 1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa, 1 Jungle Carpet Python
Reptiles:
2 Northern Blacknobb sawbacks, 1 Crested Gecko, 1 Bearded Dragon, 1 Dalmatian Hermann Tortoise

mine is set like B also but i just want to see if I'm placing the probe correctly or not. The one 4 shelf rack that i have set up, the probe is on the top Shelf and it's not very warm BUT the 3 tubs below have perfect temperature.

Re: Flexwatt Probe Placement
I have a 32qt RBI and my probe is on the 2nd from the top shelf. My top shelf is actually cooler than my bottom tub. I guess my issues is with the flexwatt but I'm not sure.

Re: Flexwatt Probe Placement
what about putting the probe in the tub with the snakes? Im asking a question not suggesting it. Mine is currently set up like A, no particular reason though

The problem with this is there is a risk of the snake moving the probe off of the flexwatt and the thermostat over heating. I would just keep it outside the tub.

My T-Stat probe is set up like photo B. My thermometer probe is inside one of my tubs. The thermometer probe doesn't control the temp, it just tells me what the temp is. That's why I keep it in one of the tubs. If I kept it on the heat tape, it would just tell me what my Herpstat probe already is.

Re: Flexwatt Probe Placement
Hey everyone,
Sorry for bringing up a old post but I was hoping for a few more opinions on this topic. I currently Have my thermostat probe placed on the heat tape like Picture B. I've tried having it like Picture A but from what i gather from the two, The way the probe is on picture A, i have to set the thermostat to around 110 + in order for the temperatures to reach around 90-94 degrees in the tubs. My concern with having my t-stat probe like this is that one day i'll wake up and see that the heat tape really did reach 110 and i'll be cooking my snakes. Now with picture B. I set the thermostat to 95 and i get the temperature at that temperature or just a few degrees lower BUT i've notice that the top two tubs are a lot warmer than the lower ones. So the temperatures are not as even. How do most people have there probe set up on their heat tape to get a more even temperature in their racks?
