Food sources
Can anyone tell me where I can order small quantities (say, 10 at a time) of frozen rodents? I like the idea of ordering from a source that indicates how the rodents are fed/raised but every website has a minimum of 100 or more. I'd end up discarding most of them which is unacceptable as a waste of furry little lives.
The Petco near me sells frozen but I'm leery of the quality/source. Does anyone have knowledge re their source?
Thanks.

Re: Food sources
If the rats have to be shipped to you, ordering 10 just becomes too expensive because of the shipping costs. So, you'll need to get with a local guy or breed your own. Where are you located?

Fleming Island, FL. Near Jacksonville. I thought shipping may be the problem since they are frozen. My main concern is I want to get high quality food.

Re: Food sources
Yeah I'd have to agree that shipping 10 or less would be wayyy more costly. Find someone that's somewhat local to you or within driving distance.
I know that most shipping is more than the actual order cause of the cold packs and shipping alone.
Success is just one decision, one commitment and a whole lot of hard work away…

Re: Food sources
I went ahead and bough a couple mice from Petco. Don't know who packages "The Gourmet Rodent" but will research it. It looks like a nice, healthy (frozen) mouse.
However, the best part is the packaging. At the bottom, it states "Contents: Crude Protein 55%; Crude Fat 23%; Ash 11%. Hmm....well, now I know what hopper mice are made of. The other great statement is "not for human consumption." Darn!

Re: Food sources
i suggest you breed your own, that way you can keep track of what they eat how they are raised and dont have to waste money buyin them . . . unless u get a big order its not worth it to order them . . .
Cheers!
