If possible the cool end should be a bit lower (around 80-83 ) inside his hide just to give him as much of a good temp gradient as you can.

I think I can see the probe from a digital thermometer in there so I take it that is what you are using?

48% isn't that far off for normal humidity - I imagine getting it up to 60%-70% for shedding drives you nuts though.

Have you tried a second waterbowl? The greater the surface area the better - depth really doesn't matter at all in raising humidity.

yes i am using a dig. thermometer (accurite) and yes he is in mid shed right now and its making me crazy. and i dont like to put him in the tub to compensate for low humidity because he always craps all over me after i get him out and the cool side hide temp is 77ish during day and 80ish at night( difference due to light placement) and warm side temp is 89ish during day and 85ish at night( again difference due to light placement)
