ive just started using a 50 watt bulb for my females tank,i also have a UTH, at night i turn on the lamp and put it on the same side as the UTH,i noticed she began spending more time on the cool side than the hot side since ive been using it,the tank becomes at least 87degrees on the hot side when i put the bulb on

should i stop using the heat lamp?

How are you checking your temps? If you're using one of those pet store stick on thermometers, don't trust it. When I switched from that to a digital with a probe, there was quite a difference. You may be surprised to find out that your temps aren't what you think.

I'd say it's most likely too hot. Those UTH's can get pretty hot. It may not feel as hot to us but our body temps are higher than theirs.

How do you have the UTH on, like just plugged into the wall or on a dimmer?? And of course, how are you measuring your temps too??
