    Re: Salmon Boas

No tensions here. Sorry it got hijacked for a second...

Here's a pic of a female and male Salmon BCI. The female is from Mike at Basically Boas and the male is from Rich and John at Salmon Boa.

The female is about 4 years old and the male is about 6 years old. Sorry but I don't have any of someone holding one.

Sorry bro, but that's not a Hypo/Salmon. Looks like a really nice Pastel though.

Like I said, the previous owner said it was that.

So what would he most likely be...full name I mean. BCI, BCC, what type of pastel etc...I'm more a BP person

Can't really tell from that pic, i will try to get better, but he is VERY pink on his sides

Luckily I can get that info since the breeder is well known, at least locally. It is East Bay Vivarium in Berkley, Ca. The previous owner gave me his feed, vet, shed, poo log from the day he got him and it has his bdate also.

Here's a semi better pic that shows how pink he is.

Also according to the previous owner he was produced from a Salmon female and a Pastel male, at least from what he could remember

That is very interesting. The hypos I have seen even ugly ones usually have the pink/hypo part expressed more at the tail end. But on yours.. there is no pinkish on the tail end. It is showing on the head and neck area... hmmmm..

Haha, innocent debates are cool as long as they don't get heated.

I would say most definitely yours is a salmon/hypo.

This is where one of you got mixed up. A Salmon x Pastel pairing would produce SalmonPastels and Pastels (the pastel trait would vary between each of the offspring). He might have been selling it as a "Salmon-Sibling" which means it's from a Salmon breeding, but one of the "normals" from that litter. Whenever you breed a Salmon to anything, the hypo gene changes the normals to (usually) more than a normal, thus most breeders call them Salmon-Silbings instead. I stopped doing this because customers got confused and thought they were buying a Salmon when they weren't.

Here's a comparison of Normals, Pastels, and Salmons I took once-

Hope that helps a little bit. If you notice the darker lines around the saddles with the Pastels (and even more so with the normals) compared to almost NO dark lines around the Salmons. But even more so is the tail. Normals and Pastels have black lines around the red tail saddles whereas the Salmons have almost none at all (only down at the last few).

And to keep this on topic, here's a pic I found of Bubbles holding a 6 foot Salmon female-

I moved the off topic stuff to it's own thread.
