Re: petsmart
I go into my pet store, and I have my own containers. On one of them, is written "Davidson's food". The store owner doesnt have a problem with it, but I have gotten a few good looks from other customers. I have been refused a hamster once, because they knew it was for a snake, so I went to another store, and was out of the store in less than 2 minutes.

She told us then we will not sell you any mice or rats because its against company policy. This coming from a girl standing 10 feet from a display of snakes including corns, kingsnakes, ball pythons and an empty boa constrictor cage. I asked what they feed their snakes then and she told us that isn't her department and she didn't know. Im always amazed when people are so ignorant about snakes but are still willing to sell one to the public. This is the same person that probably never understands why snakes owners who buy from them let a 6 foot boa loose because they can't house it properly anymore because "petsmart" doesn't sell a tank that is large enough to house it. My rant for the day.
Thats not how i remember it

Re: petsmart
Well........
I DO work for PetSmart and petcare IS my job. We do not sell mice our rats as feeders, and it dosn't matter one lick that I think it is a foolish policy. I CAN be fired if I sell a rodent for food. Also, I can tell you we DO NOT force feed our animals, that is 100% NOT policy in any way, shape ,or form. We feed frozen thaw and as of yet I have not had any animal refuse to eat while in my care. All of our stores should also be stocking frozen rats ( they are smalls and come in a two pack ). I do not think petsmart gets everything right, but I know that our policies have the health of the animals in mind. I have spent almost three hundred dollars of company funds on vet bills for a single 35 dollar G. Pig, then had to find someone to adopt the animal( no charge)because I could not sell it with known issues. I realize our reputation isn't the best, but I can tell you there are many good people working for the company, and more than a few idiots. Btw, I CAN also be fired for posting on this forum and letting it be known I am an employee of Petsmart.

The company doesn't want an individuals opinion to be mistaken for the companys position on any given subject. Last year we had to sign off on a policy that dealt with posting comments relating to PetSmart on public forums, inernet sites, and the like. I am violating that policy. On a side note, I can tell you what I believe to be the reason we do not sell live feeders, it is rather simple.... P.E.T.A.. Heck, we are not supposed to refer to our feeder fish as feeders.
