had to format my hard drive

Well after some critical windows files got corrupted after a week of fighting off some really vicious virus, I just decided to format my hard drive. Got all the drivers installed and important software such as mozilla, and.. damn this thing runs better than it has in a long time!

Nothing quite as nice as a well-running clean computer. aaaaaaaah!

Heck I like to do a little back up and wipe the whole puppy down every now and then.

Nothing is as nice as a new clean computer....

Except a nice clean new BP.

Re: had to format my hard drive

I had a not so nice experience with formatting my external media storage hard drive this summer. I was packing up my stuff to come home from Orlando. Not really paying attention, I put all my computer stuff in one big box.

When I get home and start unpacking I realized just how stupid I had been. Packed the drive directly on top of the subwoofer for my computer speakers.

For those of you who don't already know: hard drive + magnet = BAD!!!!!

Everything was wiped out. 500 gigs of TV shows, movies, music, and other misc software and files. About 4 years of stuff all gone. I wanted to cry. At least after a format the drive still worked fine. I know I'll never make that mistake again!

Re: had to format my hard drive

I had to do this a few times in the past year. It really cleans things up! I made sure to put important stuff on disks first (this is a good idea anyways..)

Re: had to format my hard drive

Now that your computer is all cleaned up and working make a new restore disk. So in the future when this happens and it will, you can just boot from the disk and replace corrupted files.

About once a year i do a low level format on my computers. It makes the hard drive look like it just came off the assembly line. I think it writes zeros to the disk. That way you know for sure that all info is removed. After the reinstallation of windows i just reinstall all my junk from my back up drive.
