    markers

Another 'what do I have thread'
Just wanted to see what those who have het pieds thought of this little NORMAL girl.
Sorry about the picture quality, but her belly actaully has some yellow speckling and by yellow I mean that orangey yellow.
I'll try to get a better pic up this weekend for clarification.

    Re: markers

I've seen plenty of normals with the supposed het markers. And then both my 100% het pied females don't have them. Doesn't mean anything. Pretty girl though.

    Re: markers

If she where known to be a possible het pied I'd definitely keep her. However it’s hard to say what your chances are of a random normal being het but if you already own her and where going to grow her up and breed her to something anyway why not try a known pied gene male. A poster on this forum actually did prove a markered presumed normal girl het pied so it can happen. I picked one up that did not prove so I wouldn't spend a lot of time and money on her if a known het pied girl is in your budget.

    Re: markers

Yeah, she's just a pretty normal but I'm keeping her anyhow. if I get any offspring with the same markers I'll try breeding back to check it out. Otherwise she has nice colouring and she'll stay on as a breeder when I downsize the normal side of things (eventually).
Dinkin projects are fun, you never do know for sure.
I do have 2 females 66%het for pied. Hopefully one or both of them prove out for me but we'll see in a year or two. They do have a little of what you might call markers but not anything close to this little girl.
    thanks for the input!

    Re: markers

She has the clean belly and the het pied markings prove her out.

    Re: markers

Markers are not 100% conclusive so raise her up and try to prove her out and you will see.
