    Slim's Unofficial 2009 NASCAR Brag/Rant/Rage Thread

Welcome BP.net race fans to another season of the world's greatest sport

Let's use this thread to keep up with this year's NASCAR season. We can come here and brag about our drivers and what-not. Because NASCAR is also the world's most political sport, we can also post our conspiracy therories and gerneral rants about the rules, results, and the organization.

Let's try and keep the "My driver is the best, and your driver sucks" stuff to a low roar so we don't get banned to the Quarantine Section

I'll get things started. My guy, Tony Stewart had a pretty good speed weeks despite having to head back to Charlotte with several pieces of wrecked junk on the trailer thanks to Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and Ryan Newman's bad racing luck. An 8th place in the 500 isn't a bad way to start the year.

One thing that I was less than happy with, was NASCAR's decision to call the race with 52 laps left to run. They should have dried the track and let em' have at it. The crowd would have stayed, and the the biggest race of the year should be decided on the track, not on the weather radar.

Had they gone back to green, I seriously doubt that 17 car would have taken the trophy home to Wisconsin.

    Alright gang, Let's hear it!!!!

I think that Dale Jr. screwed a whole bunch of people with that crap he pulled on Vickers. My boy, Kyle, was having a really good showing leading like 59 laps or something like that at that point and DE spun Vickers out trying to get the lucky dog. Oh well, I guess DE88 will finally realize this year that he isn't half as good of a driver as his dad was.

It should be interesting to see what the fallout is for Jr. Nation after that little piece of driving. He did manage to pull a Dale Sr. moment during the interview, "Hey man, I was just trying to get back on the race track". Sounded just like his old man. I wonder if the Vickers fans can remember back to the Fall 06' Talladega race when ole' Brian pulled a bone-head move of his own and took Jr and the 48 car out on the last lap? I was sitting in the front stretch for that one and had a birds eye view.

Kyle had a strong car, and would have been there at the end if he wasn't taken out....I'm not a big fan of his, but he had the best Toyota, by far for the whole day.

Jeff's car chief and crew chief screwed him outta' this one. The camber set-up on his right front was WAY to aggressive. Gotta' be able to get more than 25 laps on a set. Both those right front tires they took off after the long runs were about to go...and blowing a right front at Daytona is good way to end your day in a hurry.

I didn't know about the thing in '06...I only started following NASCAR last year because of my roommates...A little revenge perhaps? I can't even remember how many cars that took out, but it was a substantial amount of the front runners, hate to see a race "finish" without the best cars at that point in the race.

I saw one of the front rights off of the #24 & it didn't look good. I think you hit the nail on the head with the camber setting. You would think that their practice time would be enough to figure it out, but I guess not.

On another tire note...It has seemed that last year and the first race this year that goodyear's tires are crap. Has it been like this for long? The guy from GY pretty much said that they were putting their best out there, but so many tires have just been shredded the past 2 years. Do you think that's on GY or NASCAR for introducing the COY too soon, or both?

I don't know if you ever saw Tony's interview after one of the first races last year about GoodYear, but that pretty well sums it up.

Arg! Months of no racing for that!! I can't believe they called it No way would Kenseth have won had the race been allowed to restart.
Hope it is not another disappointing year for Kasey but would looove to see the Busch brothers wreck a few times (Gordon too!)
Personally, I'm waiting for 3/22. Nothing better than a Bristol race, just wish I was going to be there this year.

Yeah, the only Cup race Vickers has ever won was the 06 Fall race at Talladega. I don't think there was any real revenge factor going on, but it funny that the same guys seem to always find eachother on the track

I think Jr would even say it was a bone-head move. Bad thing is it happened in front of the whole field.

Yeah Mike, Tony let GY have it after Newman's car lost that left rear and put both cars on the trailer. Here's a somewhat little known fact...Goodyear supplies tires to all the teams for each race for free. It's kind of a good deal for making the race. However, after Tony busted Goodyear out on TV over the Atlanta race last year, Goodyear started charging Joe Gibbs for Tony's tires...not much was made of it, but I have to wonder if GY is charging Stewart-Haas for their tires. I also wonder if we'll start to hear rumblings about Stewart wanting to bring Hoosier back into NASCAR...could be interesting.

I'm totally with you cat, and I think Kasey has a chance to run well this year...I hate to say it, but Dodge is due, and Kasey is their premier driver.

I would love to see something besides GY Eagal on them tires.

If Tony is paying for his own tires why not use what you want, besides the fact that NASCAR probably dictates what they must use.
