    Re: Cute thought on Poopsie

Cute BP. I do not bathe with any of mine and if she had a BIG poop I wouldn't worry if there was a little blood IMO. Just keep an eye on her you will know if something is not right

Keep an eye on her for the next few days and have a vet that you can bring her to that knows herps. If you can, see if you can bring that vet a fecal sample if you haven't already had a fecal done for Poopsie.

Two things make me think you are OK, though. Number one, as mentioned before, if it was a large poop, and very little blood in the stool, then you have no problems. Number two, if it was very soon after a shed, say, less than a day, then there is a chance it is rather normal irritation. I had something similar happen with the first BP we ever had, and the vet said that when the snake shed, the vent scales that shed as well actually have part of it INSIDE the snake. When they come off, they sometimes cause some irritation, so if the snake poops very soon after shedding, it may cause a little bleeding. No more than a few drops of blood, though, and this is normally seen only in snakes less than 6 months old.

I would be a little concerned about her getting stuck in that hole.
What does your other hide look like?

Not to mention the fact that inside those pre-made birdhouses you will often have nails sticking out in odd places. That may be the culprit right there! Take that out and get a regular hide or even a tupperware container with a hole cut into the lid.

i agree the first birdhouse i assembled was a haggard mess, and ones off an assembly line can be just as bad internally.

Exactly and this one appears to have a board barely hanging on the rear already now that I look at it more carefully. Definitely replace that.

Its more of an ornate Box...it was glued together. She fits in Fine in the hole. The other hide is a plastic bowl thingy from the pet store. She LOVES the Bird house. the board on the back is a trap door so i can get her out. Its really safe. Promise. she likes the dangley crystals!!! lol
