nice T. if you do handle her, have someone else in the room in case of a bad reaction, especially since you're allergic to bees. I've had my Rosie for a few years without problems. I don't handle her. I just got in two OBT slings that are even more display animals.

OMG!!!! I saw the thread and which forum it was in, but still couldn't believe it. No way is there a thread in which LENA!! would have anything to do with a spider, but lo and behold the world has flipped upside down and there it is!

Wow! Congrats on the new T. How big is the new addition?

I'm with you on the too freaked out to hold just yet category. I love my little sling, but I still haven't convinced myself that I should hold it. I got my sling to get over my fear too. I'm absolutely fascinated, but still in a hands off way.

CONGRATS GIRL!!! I'm uber proud of you for taking the plunge.

Its ok Lena if you get tired of her or find out shes not helping in the getting over your fear dept. then you can ship her on out to my house. I think that what I might get next never been a invert guy but after seeing so many at expos I am becoming a fan. Dont know what I want though.

    congrats on the new addition.

As far as the venom compared to bee stings goes, people just use it as a comparison as to how the bite feels- ie a person with no bee allergy gets stung vs being bitten by a rosie. chemically, they are entirely different. There is not one single documented case of a person being allergic to T venom.

That said, they are perfectly happy being hands-off animals. Out of my eight Ts, my rosie is the only one that ever gets handled, and that is only when I bring her out to show to kids.

So far I'm totally diggin' her! Well, provided she stays in her tank She really is fascinating to watch - I love how she moves. It's trippy

Thanks for that bit of info It puts me a bit more at ease. I'm actually already thinking about getting another one. I saw a Purple Tree Spider (I think that's what it was called) that looked freakin' sweet!
