I'm in Eastern Ontario (only 1 hour and 15 minutes from upper New York) and my BPs have just started breeding a couple of weeks ago. Last year all of them were early and this year they're all later than usual. I'm in the basement as well and it gets cool. I use heat rope under the bins to heat the cages.

We did have allot more days of snow (precipitation) early in the season last year so that may have been a factor (barometric pressure changes).

Keep cooling at night and introducing the male(s). There are allot of tricks you can try but in the end if the male isn't ready to go he won't.

Are you seeing blood streaks on the bottom of the cage?
