    Substrate Switch

    Hey guys,
Currently I have aspen bedding for my bp in a screen topped enclosure. I have been havin trouble with humidity so I taped up the screen to keep the humidity in. But still humidity is a problem so I am thinking that I should switch to repti-bark because I heard it keeps humidity pretty well. What so you guys think?

    Re: Substrate Switch

I have reptibark in my 24" tall enclosure and humidity stays like 80s on the bottom and 70s up higher.

    Sounds pretty good to me!

    Re: Substrate Switch

Although I have never used it, I have heard that cypress mulch is the best substrate for holding humidty without molding.

    Hope this helps.

from what i have used, eco earth is good stuff. also, you can just get some damp sphagnum moss to put in the cage. both work pretty good.

    Re: Substrate Switch

I use eco earth for all my tanks. I use it for my hermit crabs at high humidity and it hasn't grown mold. It's cheap and great on storage space.

    Re: Substrate Switch

Jeeze! Thanks for the feedback everyone, I have not seen cyprus mulch in any of my pet stores of breeding centers, so I think I will go with the repti-bark as I originally planned. DutchHerp apparently has it and if it works for him it will work for me!

    Thanks again,
    Kevin
