Re: what's your herpstat set @?

Right now I have my thermostat set to 97. However where I previously kept the rack required 103-105, I would just be careful that the surface temps on the tub floors does not exceed 94. Insulating the exposed end of your tubs could also help reduce the temp settings required on the thermostat.

What people set their thermostat on is really not relevant there are many variables, type of rack, type of heat source etc, the best you can do is play around until to find the right setting that works for YOU.

What might work for me might not work for you and vice versa

Ditto this! It also depends on what temp you keep your home at. I have my helix set at 94* F, with it placed in a slot made for probes in my Animal Plasitcs rack, and the warm side through the plastic tubs and aspen shavings is 92*F.

I have an RBI 32 qt rack with belly heat and a herpstat - Stat is set at 104.5 to get 91 on the floor of the tub with a cool side ambient of 80. Room temp is steady at 74.

Re: what's your herpstat set @?

Well, in my homemade rack with three 90qt tubs plus a stand alone tub(beside the rack) and a 20L tank(on top of the rack), the Herpstat is set at 106 to get a highest temp of 94. The probes for both stats (the cool side Johnson as well) are on the middle level of the rack.

I got mine in tubs sitting on a 4' table ~_~ don't have a rack system yet.

Anyway it's currently at 96.6 and 50% power, it's set at 102 with a 5 degree night drop.

Re: what's your herpstat set @?

in a back heat rack typically you do not want your probe on the heattape due to this issue. i usually put my probe about 1" from the heat tape. sometimes this can be still on the back in between the 2 pieces of heat tape, but some racks youll have to put the probe on a shelf.

if you leave your probe on the heattape then you will have to up the temp while checking the temp in the tub with a heat gun.
