I had a hard time telling what is going on, sounds like you were just typing really fast.

It is not a good idea to have a male in the with the moms when they are very preggo and about to give birth. Typically, a week or two in with the female(s) then they go back to buddy up with the other boys.

    Re: Normal or not

Most males make good fathers, but sometimes, females will not allow them to act on their role. They will attack the male, causing damage to one or both parent. Sometimes (well...more rarely), the males will eat the entire litter (mostly due to jealousy). Other times the female will become stressed by the males presence and consume her litter.

Many people have luck with "Harem Colonies", I prefer rotation. Males goes in for breeding, comes out when he's served his use.

If you plan on breeding (with any regularity), I would get two males and two females. That way each rat always has a friend, as they are extremely social animals. Once the females become noticeably pregnant, I would suggest removing the male.
