Today Show
Check out the video on Today Show's website about big snakes turning up in Florida keys. The one thing they don't mention is exactly what they are doing with these snakes that they catch? Does anyone here live in that area? Are there rescue groups that are taking these poor things in and adopting them out responsibly? I feel sorry for them.
Sorry for not posting link. It's easy to find though...someone at work mentioned it to me so I just Googled it when I got home.

Re: Today Show
im pretty sure they euthinize them. they would be loaded with parasites.
i know in south florida the euthinize all non-native lizards so i don't think snakes would be any different. the herp club im in has made contact with one of the people in charge of this and told him to call us when he gets any lizards in.

Re: Today Show
I feel sad for the snakes that they didn't receive what people originally promised them, a home forever. And now I feel terribly bad for the people that have to worry about these snakes destroying native wildlife and possibly more.

Re: Today Show
Over 10 years ago, the wildlife center I worked at used to take them in when they were captured. But I think a few years after I left, they had to start turning them away because they just did not have the room.

Re: Today Show
Any time people are irresposable..its the animals that pay the tab. The ability to put those snakes down is one of the only reasons why they haven't been banned totally.
When people start screaming that you cant put them down cause is "mean" or "cruel" the governments responce is to completly get rid of the source of the problem as they see it.
When you've got 10,000 people trying to do the same thing, why would you want to be number 10,001? ~ Mark Cuban "for the discerning collector"
