any way to tell if my normal is het/xxx%?

i bought my normal bp at a pet store SORRY!!!!!!! i do not want to hear the BOOS or the WTF was i thinking. i am just wondering bc i have seen a link on here------ http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...=45744-----and i clicked on the "calico." if there is a head spot on my norm, does that mean its a calico? FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE about morphs...but do not see me as ignorant for getting a pet store ball...we all start somewhere. different breeders, or even a "puppy" mill like petco.

Normal with bad shed problem / dehydrated.

I would replace the dial humidity gauge by a digital hygrometer to get an accurate reading of your humidity level.

The head spot is not enough to tell.

And wtf were you thinking buying from a pet store? And why don't you know anything about morphs?

    Just kidding man!

the shedding is fine, i posted a bad shed thread a week and a half ago maybe 2 weeks ago...i put "him" in a soak to get the old shed off. and since then he's been eating fine, and no flaking or anything.

i could care less about it being a het anything or 99% calico...i was just wondering. as i am new bps. i fig that were the stores get them from probably throws all the clutches together and fills the orders as needed. maybe i am still ignorant. i hope to learn. and i eventually hope to breed, on a low scale.

and DUTCHHERP always seems to answer my posts so thanks!

Re: any way to tell if my normal is het/xxx%?

Most of the morphs need ALL the markers to be considered the morph. So the calico needs the white markings, and the head and and and..
Normal ball pythons come in a massive array of patterns and coloration, so we get to pick out the ones we like best. Your new pet is (99% sure) a normal male ball python, captive hatched and imported. That's what most pet superstores carry. The clutches are picked over by experts in africa for any morphs and oddities before they pack and ship the normals out. There is only a tiny chance that something would make it to a petco type store.
But you still have a awesome pet, and I hope you get it set up so it'll be a happy healthy pet for many years!
Don't worry about being new, stick around and read all the stickys and such, and you'll catch up in no time at all. The study of all the morphs can take a lot of time, and some are very subtle.
