New York State has already banned many species of large growing reptiles. Now I have 2 points to point out. 1. we should be able to own any animal we want but, do it in a safe and secure manner for yourself, the animal, and the public. Now 2. may offend others but I kinda agree with a few of the species NYS has banned. But, not they way they do it. Croc's, gators, burms, retics, anacondas, and nile monitors have no business in a child's care or even that of a novice. But, NYS should allow people who have taken courses or proved the ability to care and secure the reptile's the ability to own them. Not just outlaw everyone from owning them.
We have to allow some degree of responsibility to be placed on the owners. Anyone who is caught letting one go in the wild should be ticketed with a huge fine. The government can't punish everyone for a few ppl's mistakes.
