    No glow to GLOW!

Figured I'd start a thread with before glow and after glow pictures of developing females to give people an idea of what kind of a color change you can see.

Feel free to add before and after pics of your own!!!

    Enjoy.

    No Glow

    GLOW!

This little lady was actually my very first ball python (who luckily ended up being a girl). Normally she's very dark black and green but her late nights with my Ivory male have made her "brighten" up

Many thanks for posting the photos. Having read so often about the glow this is the first set of photos that I have found, brilliant. Having read that they can look as if they are ghosts I had the wrong expectation of the change, will go and peer at my girls again now

    No Problem

Regrettably I don't have as many "before" pictures as I'd like but here are a few morphs that have started the glowing process as well.

Can I ask please, when they glow do they seem to shine a bit more than usual too, almost as if a wee bit of oil had been smeared over them, or am I just imagining that ? Deffinitely think that one of my girls is glowing away

    Re: No glow to GLOW!

A little. Moreso it's an overall lightening of the skin and emphasized light coloration. Overall pretty cool. I'd have to say that alot of normals look like spectors or fires when they are glowing.....whereas morphs usually just look plain old better

It really takes a somewhat trained eye and a general knowledge of your snakes appearance.......the less you see them (or the more you have) the harder it would be to tell the difference IMO.

    Hope that helps!

I think you might be referring to the color changes during the shed cycle. I'm not sure what they look like then, I think "in blue" applies to them as well as boas and colubrids. I know I've heard pink too.

The glow that is shown in this thread is from a female's hormones changing because of ovulation, or having eggs, or something, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
